1999 996 6 speed transmission

My transmission is getting really noisy and I need to do something soon. (bad bearings)

What is the best way to go? Get it repaired, swap in a used trans or get a rebuilt? If used, what years will fit and what mileage range should I stay under? What else would I want to look at?
I had decided to send it to one place I found that said they would repair it for under $2k but then I did a google search on them and decided against them from what I found.
Now not sure what to do. I am just afraid if I put in a used one, it will have a bad bearing in it.

Take a look at the Rennlist 996 forum. Quite a bit of info in there, in particular, my thread on the rebuild of my transmission.

I had seen that already I think. Unfortunately I don't have any friends that can do that. I can't even find anywhere that will around here.

I think I have decided to just throw a used transmission in it. I found one with low miles but it is out of a 2002. Is there any chance it will work? I called a local shop and he looked it up and said if it is a LSD model it will work but if not it won't. When I asked him why he said the part number for the transmission is the same for the LSD transmission for 1999 and 2002 but the open diff model the part numbers are different.

Anyone know for sure if it will or won't work?

I actually have one for sale right now. $4750.00 shipped plus your core. It is a newly rebuilt unit. Should be about 200.00 or less for each unit to be shipped. Let me know if you are interested.

Porsche 996 6 speed transmission. Completely rebuilt and that includes the NEW big pinion bearing that is modified to prevent future failure.

For 99-2001 models 996 2 wheel drive. Factory part # 996 300 010 03
