Help on value of 1999 996
Hello All,
I am looking at buying a 1999 996. It has 45k on it. It has been tracked a fair amount and has a bolt in cage and GT3 seats. Car has been well maintained but overall shape I would say is fair due to usage. Does anyone have a ball park figure on value. Thanks in advance. |

Before you start with price you might want to ask questions about oiling. Did the car run with R compound tires? This can starve the main bearings of oil (side G loads) and they will be damaged. Does the car have the deep sump kit and updated baffles? If you are new to Porsche and don't know about 996's and the M96 engine, do a search on LN Engineering and do some reading on the IMS bearing too. The cost of entry into the 996 world is fairly cheap but you could be into a new engine worth more than the original purchase price. It will pay you to do some homework.

I personally would not touch a former track car if I were purchasing it for a driver. If you are purchasing it as a track car ... well, thats a different story. The question becomes, more or less, is it a "fast" track car. Either way it's impossible to speak to value without more information. These guys provide excellent pricing data ... clearbook.truecar.com
