Battery, Frunk and storage

So I recently relocated my TT to another home we use in the winter only. Anticipating the Summer storage, I was thinking I should disconnect the battery and leave the frunk popped for when I return.
Then I started thinking that when I just go away for a few weeks, maybe I should leave the frunk popped in case the battery dies while I'm gone. Does this turn on the frunk light, just having it popped and not opened all the way? If so, that would surely drain the battery.

What do others do? I really don't want a dead battery and a closed frunk, and I'm not too excited about leaving a battery tender on the car for months on end.

Thanks

Nick

You have an emergency cable that opens the back lid. Did you find it? If your battery go's dead you can open the rear lid by using that cable or by applying 12 volts to the fuse panel to open the rear lid. Read you operators manual. What year twin turbo do you have?

It's a 2009….and I SHOULD read the manual…duh!
I'm talking about the trunk, not the engine compartment. That's where the battery is, and there's a light in there. It happened to me once before with a 996 and I had to go through the fuse box…gotta be a better way. Maybe I can just pull the fuse for the trunk light, and leave the hood popped.

Im not sure if the 2009 has those cables. The earlier models have a cable for the front compartment and engine compartment. I meant to say front compartment for the battery. I have 3 Porsche's I know where the battery is. LOL

So in answer to my own question, after reading the owners manual (duh, again!), I found that the luggage compartment light will turn off after 2 hours, once you pull the key, to save the battery, at least for my year.
Also, the remote control locking system will stop working after 7 days for the same reason, and you'll have to open the drivers door with the key.

German engineering strikes again.
