oil line rerout
I'm installing European racing headers on my 1985 911. I purchased the 2 oil lines needed for the backdate reroute. I have a number of questions about the reroute.
Should the new line from the thermostat be routed in front of or behind the old thermostat line that goes from the thermostat to the oil tank? Also, should it be routed in front of the s-hose? See picture. It seems that this is the best way of doing it and there seems to be plenty of room between the tire and the oil lines. But I wanted to double check with others. I saw pictures on this site showing both ways. Also, the headers on the drivers side bump into the engine tin in the front of the engine near the temp head sensor wire. I had to cut a slit in this tin and bend up upwards to make it fit. Is this what others have done? The headers on the passenger side run pretty close to the s-hose. There is probably and inch or so of clearance. Do I need to wrap the s-hose with h-temp tape or is an inch enough clearance. One of the new oil lines - the one coming out of the case - has a tab with a hole on it to attach is somewhere to the engine. The hole lines up perfectly with a bolt holding the engine tin together. So, I'm assuming this is what should be used to secure the line. It is surprising to me since the engine tin isn't exactly a solid mount. I wanted to check with others if this is correct. Thanks very much

Mine is routed exactly like your picture with the tab attached to the engine tin and oil cooler.

Thanks for the reply. Did you do anything special with the S-hose? I'm concerned about how close it is to the header pipe - about an inch. I don't know how hot that hose can get.
