The "go to" Tool in the Garage

With the total rebuild of the front suspension and R & R of the air box, this has been a big help at times: An old digital camera and the old laptop loaded with the 74-77 PET .pdf file. Now permanently stationed in the garage.

It's just a pdf. Get adobe acrobat reader for iPad and then email the pdf to yourself.

The pdf is fine, but I'm thinking something a little more interactive. Click a part, get a part number etc...

Build a shelf on the wall for the laptop about eight inches high. Get an cheap RGB flat screen monitor with decent resolution. Shut the laptop and put the monitor on top of it. Wireless keyboard and mouse. Easy to move them out of the way and way less damage if a beverage spills.

Funny, but I most certainly can relate.

When I was finishing the rear wheel bearings, I had a (new) laptop out, my Ipad out, and a couple different manuals around to consult - especially on the first one. Many would say that I was being a little overkill (including Dad who came and saw my little mess and laughed at me) - but doing a job 2 times is annoying if it can be avoided by keeping an eye on the specs (...like torque, etc).... ask me how I am experiencing that right now.

If I run across an "extra" laptop in the near future, it will be stationed on my work surface for easy access to resources such as this forum.

Besides this screwdriver, I could not function without my floor jack and air wrench.

A BFH and a BFS are just part of the standard repertoire of tools for working on the air cools... the low tech stuff.

We're talking about moving up to medium tech here, the big leap..

That looks like the Porsche special tool for the caps on the external thermostat.

You are missing a Bosch Hammer. That's what you need -- they're metric.
