Engine grille restoration "service"?

Hey all, so, I know there are various people/shops/companies that specialize in restoring certain parts of our cars... but does anyone know of a place that restores engine grilles??

I have a 73 but want a grille with the bars in silver with black painted mesh. The grille on my car was painted black by the PO (not sure it was even the original grille to the car or even black in the first place, just that it had been recently painted black), which I stripped, and then due to being unable to get all the black out of the cracks in the mesh, and the anodizing being faded on the bars ) I painted silver using the same aluminum paint I used on my wheel caps. It was a good "temporary" solution to getting a silver grille until I could restore mine.

Well, I have a new baby at home and no time... so, I am now wondering if it makes sense to have someone restore it for me! Anyone know a place that does this???

Indeed, but I'm not even sure the one on there was black originally. When I stripped it it sure looked like it was anodized silver and supposed to be silver (stripped very easily except for all the little books and crannies in the mesh)

I missed out bidding on a super clean original grille on evil bay last week while traveling, wish I had gotten that one then I would have indeed just sold mine. Oh well, maybe there's some place that restores these reasonably...?

New baby + Acetone in the house/spending time on this now = very angry wife....

I appreciate the suggestion, but I could totally do the restoration myself and know what to do. My quest is to see if anyone knew of a place to have this done, i.e. there are guys that do wheel restorations etc....

King of Trim | Quality automotive trim restoration

Make sure you're sitting down.

There's a lot of work involved in these grills

lol, well thanks at least for a source to look into! I'll at least get a quote from them, and maybe THEN I will have to decide to keep looking for another one to buy, or wait til I have the time to do it myself.

But thanks for the lead, will send them a note tonight!

Not sure about the person that just posted above you, but "king of trim" gave me a rough estimate of about $600... I decided to find a clean used one for $300 and will repaint the mesh black myself, should look pretty good, and then I can resell mine when I am done with the project
