repro v original horn grilles

Checking on how the fitment is with the "quality" repro chrome horn grilles (71 911) vs originals.? Wondering if I should get my originals re-chromed or just go with repros but concerned that they wont fit "quite right" Thx

Get them re-chromed. I bought and returned sets from two separate suppliers before buying originals from a Porsche swap meet and re-chroming them. John Esposito my body man just wasn't happy with the way either reproduction set fit.

I bought a pair of horn grills for my 70 from pelican, the concours ones. I believe they are the ones made by Auto-Foreign Services. They cost a bit but they are stunning, very, very nice. I think they are well worth the cost. I had previously had my originals rechromed. The AFS grills are much nicer. Exact fit too. Auto-Foreign Services produces top notch high quality products. I look forward to new items for our old cars.

Good to know. I bought some replacements for my '71 from Aut0m0tion a few years ago. The chrome started pitting right away.

Be careful if you go to re-chrome, as the originals, I believe are zinc.

AFS doesn't produce standard LWB horn grills - only TTG foglight grills for the 69-73 cars.

maninblack is correct. A friend just had a conversation with Auto-Foreign and was advised that they will be producing standard LWB horn grills in 4-6 months. The ones I purchased from them are for the fog lights. Quality and fit are absolutely top notch. If you need standard grills theirs are worth the wait.
