What coils can be used with the CD ignition on a 78 911 SC $200+ makes me what to change out the whole system.

MSD blaster II coil (or today's equivalent) is fine but let others here confirm so.

If you are looking to confirm your coil is bad, go to the local parts store and buy a 1967 Chevy Bel Air coil. About $20.
