VIN No. decal replacement?

Hello everybody:

After many years I have rejoined the P-world, and it's good to be back. I have a 1974 914 two liter, and a 1984 Carrera Targa. On the Carrera, I need to replace the door lock post panel on the driver's side due to rust issues and would like to transfer the VIN decal to the new panel when it's done. I noticed that it's perforated, making removal/replacement difficult. Is there a way to do this, or are replacement decals available anywhere? I understand the issues with duplicating VIN numbers for obvious reasons, but I need to find a solution. Thanks in advance for your suggestions and comments.
