Thumbs down ran out of petrol

Ran out of petrol today put petrol in started straight away. I have noticed the mpg has dropped dramatically does the on board computer need resetting or do you think there is a problem? I'm sure i can smell petrol but might just be being paranoid.

What year? What model? If it is a C4 you might have to get the gauge recalibrated.
Running out of gas should not cause fuel leaks or smells.
Fuel leaks might cause running out of fuel though.
