Rear Spoiler on 99 996

Does the rear spoiler on an early 996 deploy automatically? I know there is a switch to raise it manually. Also, does the dash light come on whenever it is deployed (automatically or manually)?

The spoiler automatically deploys when vehicle speeds reach 120km/h or about 75 mph.

I don't believe the dash light is supposed to come on when deployed, whether manually or automatically. The light will display if and when where is a fault with the spoiler, however, I may be wrong.

Correct... Dash light means a fault. Switch is unlabeled and located on the driver foot well kick panel (also fuse box cover).
