996 Amplifier Location
I'm looking for the wiring harness feeding out of the radio amplifier on a 99 cabriolet. Trying to pick up the wires for the door speakers which originate on the output of the amp.
All the information I can find shows it near the spare but there is not / could have never been a harness going to that area. It's a pretty small car and so the only space not visible is behind the passenger air bag.... |

Are you sure that the head unit doesn't drive the speakers directly? I have the Bose audio so 7 speaker units in total and the amp is indeed by the spare wheel. You could pull the head unit and test speaker impedance (2 ohms I believe) or try popping them with a small battery.

There's an updated system integrated through an 'adapter plug' that utilizes the twisted pairs of speaker leads from the 'brown plug' - just like every picture on the internet.
I'm after those Bose door woofer speakers that are fed from the output of the amp - but I've decided to just run new wire over to them. Wherever the amp is, it's not convienent and it's a round about way of doing it anyhow. |
