Yes, Another 996 Starting issue

First off, thanks to everyone who has posted before about their similar problems. I've been reading a lot about what the issue could be and have done a bunch of troubleshooting prior to posting this. I've got a 2000 C4 Cab.

Now, on to the issue. A few weeks ago, I noticed the 996 wouldn't start right away when I turned the key. It took two, maybe three times to turn before the starter would catch and fire up the engine. It was never more than three times. I got back in from a road trip and parked it on a Sunday night. Monday morning, turned the key...nothing. Of course I had a day off and the weather was perfect for a round of golf, which was where I was headed. Turned the key a few times with no luck. So, I jumped in my Vette and continued with my day, only to find that my clutch gave out about a mile down the road. Great day.

Back to the issue. Two days after the day off, the alarm goes off at 2 in the morning. I turned it off, reset it and it goes off over and over again. I unlocked the doors, opened it up and the car goes crazy!! Alarm is going off the whole time. I popped the hood and disconnected the battery for the night.

Next day, I reconnect the battery. Interior lights stay on the whole time and the alarm won't set, nor will the doors lock. Disconnect the battery and loop the terminals for about 20 minutes. Reconnect and the driver's window starts going up and down about an inch or so, over and over again. Disconnected the battery again. Did some reading online and ordered an ignition switch. Checked the clutch switch and it's fine. Checked the battery and it was just above 12V. Got the ignition in and changed it out, still has the same problem.

Tried to jump the battery in case the voltage was too low with no luck. Scratched my head for a few minutes, said a few choice words out loud and tried it again...BOOM, it starts. Let it run for about 10 minutes, turned it off, tried to start it up again...nothing.

Let it sit for a few days, tried it again. After about 10 turns, it starts. Turned it off again and nothing. I took the driver's seat out and discovered the alarm/ignition module has had significant water issues prior to me owning the car as well as a buttload of water in the plastic tray where the module was. I took it out, soaked up the water that was in there and went to town cleaning the circuit board and connectors. I sanded down the ground wire connectors and post, put it all back together and tried it again. That seems to have solved all of the issues except for the power getting to the starter to get things going. The locks and the alarm work, just no juice to engage the starter.

Any other ideas before I shell out a few bucks for a new module and have to deal with all of the reprogramming issues? That is going to be a pain in the butt as the closest Porsche dealer is about 90 miles away. I'm going to get a new battery on Monday to see if that is the issue. Maybe I should have done that first, but I didn't.

Thanks for any help you all can be. My apologies for the long read, I really had to vent a bit while I was looking for help.

Sounds like a battery cable problem, check voltage right at the alternator, then the starter, then the rear post, then the battery. ..... If voltage drops more than 1 volt down the chain then that's the problem.
Also of the ground strap is unhooked the starter won't always work and it won't charge. ....
