idle oscillation
After engine warms up the idle begins to oscillate from normal to about 400 rpms about every 1to 2 seconds. Where would you begin looking?

Could be the MAF sensor, or the AOS (Air Oil Separator). Some of the early warning signs of a failing AOS is hunting idle. On the Boxster, the symptoms seem to be more prevalent (engine smokes on start up, and hunting idle), but on the 996 the symptoms may not manifest in such an obvious way. Check engine light on?

What year? 1999 (and 2000?) non e-gas Have an idle control valve that can get gummed up and cause that.
