still cant add gasoline
I have a 2001 996 (911 Carrera) non turbo car. I bought the car at auction and I have no history on it. It has 175,000 miles and runs and drives great. Everything works except I cant put gas in. I have replaced the fuel cap, fuel fill vent valve, and purge valve. All either OE or Pelican parts. Still spits fuel back out filler neck after pumping
a few seconds. I Tried disconnecting the 2 large tubes from the charcoal canister and the problem persists. I tried disconnecting the 2 small rubes from the fuel vent valve and I could get gas in but the pump shuts off every couple of seconds. I can pour gas from a can slowly and I can get fuel in the tank. I know its a venting issue but cant resolve it. Any help is appreciated. I need to get it fixed and pass emission test so that I can sell it. Thanks David |

This is also caused by the fuel lines in the tank. One will get out of position and foul the "anti fuel surge" flapper at the bottom of the fuel feed neck.
There is a TSB but I couldn't find it. It consists of: 1 Pull the fuel pump (access under the battery on C2) 2. tie wrap the fuel line out of the way against the pump assy. 3. reassemble Found it TSB 911 (996) 5/99 2015 Fuel Tank Hose Modification August 12, 1999 If you are a member of Renntech, http://www.renntech.org/forums/tsbs/carrera/, it is listed in Under DIY tools in Porsche TSBs
