996 wheel bearing question ?
I'm working on a personal project which uses a 996 / Boxster suspension. Time to replace the wheel bearings. I ordered a set for a base 996 / Boxster and started
with the rear. The parts at least for the rear don't fit. My hub bearings are larger at least in diameter than the ones I bough. I see the 4s have a different part number and ASSUME they are the ones I need. My OD is approx. 3.25" and the base ones I have are approx. 2.95". What do you all think ?? |

Not all 996 and Boxster suspensions are the same. The six speed "S" Boxster used the larger 996 rear carrier hubs, different axles, and completely different brakes. You need to know if the suspension units you have came out of a base (five speed) or S (six speed) car to match up the bearings.
