Is anyone here using their 997 as a daily driver? I;m considering it and would like any feedback that you may have. I have a 30 mile commute, each way, in the Dallas Fort Worth area. I have an older Porsche that I would love to use, but do not want to put the miles on it. Since I only use it on the weekends, I'm thinking of something I can get more use out of. Any thoughts would be welcome.

I've been thinking of the same thing with the value of the air cooled models going up so much. Lots of people use 997s as a daily, it's still a fairly new car and shouldn't give too many problems. It does have some weaknesses (reservoir caps, AOS failures, water pumps) but really no different than a similar year BMW or VW. There is always the (low) possibility of an IMS failure.
It looks like you've owned a Boxster so you're familiar with the newer models already.

Any 997 that I would consider would have to be a 09 or newer. As far as I know that is when the engine was revised to do away with the IMS issue.

I use my 38k+ mile 2012 997TT-S as my 50 mile round trip DD in the metro Atlanta area and love it.
