I have a 1999 porsche 996 and a friend of mine jumping from the backseat out of the car bashed one of the 2 roof flaps in putting his weight on it. Now the closure system is working still, but the opening doesn't properly: to open the damaged flap i have to lift it up manually. Is there anything i can do by my self? What should i have to check? Thanks

That is a very common failure the flap mechanism needs to be replaced. It is a pretty involved process from memory. If you follow this link http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Porsche-996-997-Carrera/71-BODY-Convertible_Top_Mechanism/71-BODY-Convertible_Top_Mechanism.htm you can look at illustration 6...the flap mounting is BEHIND all that convertible top mechanism.
