Need help with 996tt clutch

Hi, newbie here, but tackling the clutch in my 2001 turbo. Everything I've read says I should have a solid disk clutch with the dual mass flywheel. Just received my Kit in the mail, (upgrading to a GT2 disk) but when I pulled the pressure plate, I came up with a spring hub disk. Porsche p/n is correct. Can I install the solid hub disk? Or go back to start? Thanks!

Garage
Smile Spring or not

I don't know if it'll make a difference. The springs are just to soften the engagement and eventually if too rough of a shifter or starter, the springs will be worn out and the disc will fail. Most Porsches aren't drag raced, but I did have a friend who jerked his 928S4 around like one on the D.E. circuit, inspite of my admonitions that it wasn't earning him anything but an earlier trip to my garage for replacement.

Thanks for the reply. I have driven all kinds of transmissions and while a lot of people will disagree, I am not a fan of slipping the clutch. I am planning on installing the GT2 disc, no springs.

BTW Where in NC are you/your shop? My son has a 2002 Carrera Cabriolet and lives in Wake Forest. He needs a good shop to go to. Thanks again!

You don't say if you have a dual mass flywheel.
Spring centered disk goes with Light weight or solid flywheel. Solid disk goes with a dual mass flywheel.
Solid with solid will amplify trans clatter at idle and endanger your crank. Increasing torsional vibration that leads to cracked crankshaft in some cases.

Spring with dual mass could give an uneven "rubber band" clutch engagement. IE: as you engage the clutch it winds up and launches the car.
