Buying First Porsche, Qs?

Hey group, I am thinking about replacing my Daily Driver with a 997. I am familiar with German cars and their quirkiness (VW) but have never owned a Porsche. I have been doing a lot of forum reading...

Ive narrowed it down to a 997.2 Carrera or maybe Targa, S model. I was stuck on the AWD or not question but seems that it really isn't a issue. Obviously AWD would be better, but not going to let it be a deal breaker for me.

Definitely I was thinking PDK, heated seats, nav and sat radio.

I am a little scared of the IMS issues. Should I be? Obviously documented repairs of any kind and maintenance will help me sleep. I would think previous Porsche owners take good car of their cars, are fully documented cars easy to find?

Are options, like adaptive suspension and adaptive seats hard to come by? Are there options I should avoid or seek specifically?

I am a enthusiast so I do have mods planned, either springs or Bilstien PSS (Available for P cars?) some kind of exhaust (Gundo), unless the sports button activated bypass is enough to please? intake, maybe a ECU tune?

Thanks everyone. I can't wait to finally get my dream car

Please chime in if you know more info on on the options and colors I like...

IMS is not an issue with 997.2 and be sure to get a PPI before buying. Go visit a local shop who specializes in water cooled to get educated. No major issues that I'm aware of, the PDK is great and I jumpstart came out of a manual. Good luck.

Fishy, go for it, as said already IMS is not an issue on series 2.
Just bought a Carrera PDK with Sports Chrono. I actually didn't expect to like it, being a 3 pedal kind of guy, but wow, definitely didn't feel like I needed an S, absolutely stunning to drive.
Sport Plus is brutal, but I'm going to like it....
30 minutes earlier I had test driven a new Jaguar F Type S and nearly bought it but couldn't quite get the money right at the dealer. I'm soooo pleased I didn't buy the Jag, can't wait for delivery of the 911 on Friday.
Will get an extra set of rims for track tyres and go scare myself *****less soon.

Thanks guys for the feedback.

I am still on the fence. I am a Volkswagen guy and the new Golf R looks really interesting. And very affordable. . The Porsche would make me eat more Mac and cheese than I do now. Hahaha.
