Those were sold by Techart, the name is on the forward most spoke. I forget the name of the company that made them but I think the model was called "Formula 1"

I saw a set for sale on Rennlist or 6speedonline recently.

I have several 18" wheels for sale in Pelican classified 996 thread.

thanks for the insight. after looking at the car I thought they may have been an OE wheel, but after looking at many an image of 996 TT's I did not see them in any shot. hope to acquire this car and start participating here to get familiarized with the car. x-aircooled driver...

Are those 18 or 19? 19 end up too tall for the 996 cars.

not sure on the wheel size. will be attending a PPI tomorrow at a shop im not familiar with, but in speaking with more than a few locals PCA folk in the area it gets high marks. bummed the car is a bit too far to get it done at my preferred shop, but they've coached me up and ive got a check list of things I will need to be examined. im bringing my own new oil filter unannounced so the current one can be removed and cut open.... the wheels after looking closer at an add for the car at KBB they are in fact techart. I will look to see if they are 18 or 19's.

on another note im being told that 55-60K miles is likely it for the clutch in these cars. the clutch in this car has not been and I thought I felt some slippage going from 2nd to 3rd getting on a clear freeway on the power hard, very hard. ive been coached on what the pedal "should" feel like,,,, but having not experienced a good, or bad one how do ya know? any good clutch threads here you might share would be the berries.

the wheels seemed to fit fine jeff. can you elaborate on how the 19's are less than a good choice? I liked the wheels a lot originally, but they are kinda ungrowing on me...

Couple of things for you.

Will a proper functioning slave, the clutch should be nice and light, no rough spots in its travel and should engage fairly close to the floor. If it is slipping it is done. Doing a clutch is no big deal, just build the cost into your purchase offer.

For wheels, the original rear wheel/tire was 18x11 with a 295/30/18. When folks move up to 19 inch (notice I did not say upgrade ) the tire is a 295/30/19 which is a full inch taller in diameter. They fit fine, but are taller, make the gearing taller and, to me, look odd... Sort of like 18's on a G series 911...

I am not sure what to make of your pic in your other thread with the coolant leak. The shop could have easily pressurized the coolant system (through the tank) and easily identified the source of the leak... Coolant should be pink...

I'm open to being corrected on this one (and I don't know if the TT is different), but two 996 C4S's I'm familiar with (as well as a 2007 Cayman S) have the clutches engaging much, much higher than the above quote of "....fairly close to the floor."
This has always been an irritation for me, as all of my other manual shift cars have the clutch start to engage about 2" coming up off of the floor.
One other thought: I've concluded from the above personal experience as well as numerous other posts on Pelican, Rennlist, etc. that these clutches do not communicate very well to your left foot when/as the clutch is starting to engage. Until you get used to it and have learned to compensate, you risk the embarrassment of stalling as you're trying to get moving in 1st gear.

I guess "fairly close to the floor" is subjective. It shouldn't release "high"...

That is my opinion of the clutch engagement before & after DD for 13 yrs.

The car looks awkward & unbalanced, I would bet money they are larger than 18" & I'm guessing 20" If tire diameters front & rear differ greatly, fwd gear could be damaged!
