Scuff Plate Clean-up

This is a high tech question for the group. I am tired of looking at the scuffed-up scuff plate at the door sill on a 2007 C2S. Black plastic. Over $200/side for a new one from the dealer.

Anyone know a way to clean up the scuff marks? A mild abrasive?

Jeff,

I removed the driver's side, sanded and sprayed a satin black on them, right now I don't remember who's paint I used. However they look original and seem to clean up just fine.
