DIY transmission mount 996tt

hope this is not bad form cross posting from another site. I ask because I care, but have recently done a trans mount swap out on my new to me 03 996tt and thought id share it for the tech factor... even from there..

having researched the "need to do's" on the new car the mounts were high on the priority list. many will just acquire an entire new mount carrier casting with new bushings in place for a quick swap out reinstall. I guess if your having a shop do the work this makes a bit of sense, but there are options to source just the bushings to be installed in the OE carrier after removing the OE bushes/races. the OE bushing removal effort is outlined in the thread. granted I have access to my pop's lift and that is a huge factor in some of my efforts on getting to know my new car with these projects, but im all about saving a buck. so ,here's how I paid $149 for bushings, had a great morning with my pops by doing the work instead of paying around $400 for the new carrier & bushing unit. we could have replaced the whole unit as described, but we'd have been done in like 15 minutes..

I do however not have a expensive paperweight with spray under coating all over it left over from the upgrade...
