996 window regulator question
Last week I changed one of my window regulators-the job went well and my wife is very pleased that the dropdown function works again. I opted for the URO aftermarket unit-it looks to be well made. However, in the box with the regulator was a information sheet warning me to inspect, clean, lubricate, adjust and/or replace the seals, tracks, and guides in the door before using the regulator, or else it would fail shortly and URO would deny any warranty claim.
It appears that replacing the inner seal would be simple, but the outer seal goes all around the door and would be a big deal to replace. I did inspect and clean all these items, and I am considering using gummi pflege on the rubber parts, but I recall that years ago new windshield wipers came with a small tube of lubricant-does anyone have a idea where to source this material or something similar? Has anyone had any experience with premature regulator failure? Thanks! |

Gummi Fledge is fine for the rubber seals and the like, metal parts can use a light coating of Lubriplate white grease.
