help! heating don work on my 996

hi
i am still ice cold

the problem is that the heating system dont work.

a/c cooling is ok
but when I swich to heater (with or without a/c) only cold air comes out.

checked the hot water tubes next to the battery bay - and its cold.

what can be the solution?

many (many!) thanks from a 996 owner in Israel

What does your temp gauge say? Maybe you need a thermostat. Sounds like yours may not be opening. I assume you have coolant in the system?

Not the temperature controls inside the car. I'm talking about the thermostat on the engine that circulates water through the cooling system. Is your engine getting warm? When it reaches 180° it's supposed to open in send water to the radiator and bring in cooler water etc. that's where your heating system obtains the heat for the cabin.

Thermostat for sure. Sounds like it isn't opening. PM me if you want to chat offline.

If you're not circulating to the rad then you can overheat the engine and damage the heads. This needs attention right away.

How many miles on the car? Could also be a water pump failure. The vanes are plastic and have a life span of about 60,000 miles. After that they can break apart and send bits into the engine. If coolant isn't circulating, it's not good.
