ims "solution"

Don't want to start a dust-up on the IMS choices, but would like to hear from someone who paid the big money and got the LN "Solution" IF the direct oil feed was to become blocked, will the bearing survive? I believe that the bearing is semi submerged in engine oil even without the oil coming from the direct line.

Thanks

The bearing is coated, and has been run without oil and did not fail. I think the parameters of the test may be on the FSI web site. It does use filtered oil so the chance of clogging is slim. Also the feed line is held close to the engine block so it getting damaged is also slim, and if it does you probably have other things to worry about.

A little abashed to ask, but what is FSI?

I am leaning towards the IMS Solution over the "regular" IMS kit. If my engine can pass the pre-install inspection that is.

Just had the "solution" installed by Justin at South Shore Autoworks, in Kingston, Mass. Great shop, very clean work. After reading about the bearing issue ad nauseum, the plain bearing makes the most engineering sense to me.

And because of its permanent nature, it also can add substantial value at resale.

Sorry, but that retrofit is not even remotely an alternative the IMS Solution at any price point.
