Performance upgrades for a 996 TT

Howdy all

I've read that the stock 420hp can be pushed up without huge expense, what are the standard bolt ons or performance additions to add a few more ponies without major engine tear downs.

Exhaust (100 or 200 cell) and a tune (COBB, EPL, Protomotive, etc.) will get you about 80HP.

Buy a used exhaust save a bunch of $$$.

Most/all tunes are done with a new file you just plug into your OBDII connector with a lap top.

Thanks for that. Does changing the intercoolers and turbo's from an X50 car also help ?

Yes, both would help. However, there are much better (more power) options.

Best thing to do is to talk to a shop that does turbo upgrades and discuss your options.

Call Dan at Speed Gallery @ 818-766-2321 (North Hollywood, right off the 170 on Sherman Way) who works with different tuners depending on what you would like. He builds podium winning cars for the POC, NASA, PCA, etc. for the track. He does great work for street and street/track cars too.

IMHO. One of the very few shops that knows how to work on and upgrade 996 Turbos and get it right the first time. Been there done that with about 5 other shops.
