997 blue smoke on start up

Guys I have an almost new Porsche with the 997 engine. A cloud of blue smoke comes out almost randomly when I start up the car, first comes out blue then it comes out white. I understand to a certain point this is normal for the flat six engines but this is to often. Do you have any advice?

Could be overfilled with oil or maybe you need to replace AOS.
How many miles on the car? What is the service history?

Usually if it's really bad it'll misfire if it's the AOS. You can check the crankcase vacuum to eliminate the possibility of the AOS. CCV should be less than 6" of water right when you start it up. It should never go above that.

Does it do it on every start up, or only after the car has sat for a couple of days? I think the latter is fairly normal, as some oil mist will get pulled through the AOS into the intake manifold. When my car sits for a several days, I'll get a puff of smoke on startup as I believe the oil vapor condenses on the walls of the intake, and given time, will flow down the intake to the intake valves. Its not a lot of oil, but it does make a good size puff of smoke that first start, but its only for a second right after start. After that, no more visible smoke if daily driven. My crankcase vacuum looks good, so I'm assuming the AOS is functioning OK.

I think (from what i learned form my mechanic) that when this happens changing the AOS is a good first move. I had he same problem and now its gone.
