Does the 996 GT3 Mufflers fit on 996 Carrera?

Good day,
I am looking to buy some 996 GT3 mufflers that I would like to fit on my 996 3,6L Carrera... Would it be a good upgrade? Is it direct fit?

Thank you for spending time answering my question!

Have a great day!

Dan

id say no. the motors are completely different. the 996/997/991 GT3 & turbos have the more robust, desired mezger based motor. this is why they do not suffer the IMS issues that the base model 911's, boxtsers & cayman do/can have. the mezgers do their own issues like cooling line failure so they are not perfect either.

I can not say for sure, but id be very, very surprised. check part numbers in the pelican catalog for headers, cats, & mufflers. that might clue you to interchangeability..

Thanks for your info...

Both mufflers use the same number bracket and same number exhaust tip...

I agree with you but there must not be a lot of fitting to do!... My feeling is that they are caompatible... I have a pair of mufflers available in my area... I think I will try to fit them...

Thanks for your answers...

This will be all about the fitment to the cats. First step would be to see if the flanges are the same - but ok those could be modified. Next step to see if the inlet pipes are even in the same location - and yes you could theoretically change that too.

Unless you are getting the mufflers for free though I can't see why you would invest that much into doing something that wasn't meant to be. Lots of deals on used performance exhaust for the 996 on craigslist, ebay etc.

The exhaust tip would have nothing to do with the fitment to you M96 of course - but even then are you sure. The GT3 has a centre exhaust doesn't it?

bringing this thread back alive.....

did the 996 GT3 exhaust (after headers) right onto the 996 Carrera? I'm looking to do the opposite since the PO of my GT3 threw out the original exhaust.
