VroomGrrl is back! Shopping for a 996, PPI near Marietta, GA?

Greetings, all!

So I got an offer I couldn't refuse to purchase Cruella, my sweet Gran Prix White 1988 911 - from a Pelican, no less - and said goodbye to her in July. I decided on the 996 era for my next 911, and had been taking my time shopping. Then my daily driver was totaled while sitting in front of my house (unoccupied) on Sunday. So apparently the time for my 996 is now!

I've got my eye on a sweet looking low miles 996 in Marietta, GA, and use of the SEARCH function here yields nothing newer than 2011 on shops for PPIs in the Marietta area. I found references to Rylands, and European Import Specialists, both on Airport Rd in Marietta. Both still appear to be around.

Any wisdom on these two shops for a PPI, or recommendations for another Marietta-area shop? I would normally use Franz Blam, but I'm out of town, and the logistics to get the car to Tucker are a bit daunting (and spendy). Thanks for any info you've got to share!

PS Here's Cruella with Franz Blam all up in her bidness:

Try this site here: Independent Porsche Repair | Repair Shops Specializing in Porsche | PCarShops.com. See if it may help you find one that can do a PPI. Good luck with the search and be sure to share with us once you pick one up.

I used to work with Ryland at Brumos- sorry to say he passed away a couple of years ago.

Hey vroomgrrrl, I lived in Roebuck Plaza for about 20 years, Go Jets!

Don't know anyone to recommend in GA but be sure they know 996's aircooled knowledge does not apply.

Thanks, y'all. I got my PPI at European Import Specialists in Marietta, and alas, the white 03 C4S was too good to be true! So glad I got it checked out thoroughly. Gonna get something to get around in on the cheap for now & keep shopping til I find the right 996.

Once again, it took me awhile, but I found the right next 911 for me. Not a 996 - but a 997 C4 tiptronic in Carrara White. Love it! Once again I found my car in HOUSTON and drove it back to Birmingham - this time alone, 10 hours straight. Wheee!

Mother Moon guided me home.

Nice deputy in Louisiana, just had a bunch of questions about my new car!

Having a little shape-up work done, and I'll be back with photos. Happy Happy VROOM!

I've forgotten how to do photo links here! I've got a few shots from the dealership & my trip home. I've finally just gotten a broken wheel replaced and a good cleaning up, and I'm heading out to a nice location today for a few proper photos which I'll share in a new post. LOVE LOVE LOVE my new 997!

We actually updated how to upload pictures. If you press "Go Advanced" it will show you an uploader to drag and drop images into. If they're too large or if they're .PNG images they wont upload correctly. Make sure they're a good size and a .JPG image. Anyways, thanks for sharing that album. It looks super clean! I'm looking forward to the pictures you get from the photo shoot!

I just bought a gallon of this stuff for myself the other day because I go through it so much, but if you want to have a quick way to make your new 997 shine I'd suggest this detail spray below. It's convenient because when you're done washing the car, and while it's still wet you spray this one to it and wipe it dry. Gives the paint a super smooth finish and shine. Also helps protect it and since your paint looks to be in super good condition still, it would be a good product to use to help preserve it. Anyways, post up those pictures once you get them!

New-to-me 997 First Photo Shoot

I got my car all washed up, then took a run out to Barber Motorsports Park. But I just had my cell phone cam to take photos. Here are a few shots of my new ride, 2008 C4 tip with about 89K miles. Loving my new ride! The thing that surprises me most is how much of the raw, visceral feedback is retained in every aspect of the driving experience as compared to my air cooled 1988. I was afraid it would be "cushy" but no such thing! It feels every bit the sports car it is.

I've been working on a name. My 1988 was called Cruella, and I think her new owner is keeping that name. Pearl seems to be the most favored for this car, but I am not wild about that one, yet anyway. I'm holding out for just the right name that reflects some female fierceness. Like Clarice. Or Cher.

Suggestions welcome!
