towing a 996

Thinking about moving my 996 to SC from Maine this fall. Has anyone ever successfully used a tow bar on a 996? Tow vehicle is a 6 cyl Tundra. Other options include towing with a lightweight trailer or a shipping service. I am tired of driving it back and forth.

Flat towing one of these cars is not advisable. Beside getting hit with everything the tow vehicle kicks up, the transaxle will not lubricate or cool properly without the engine running, and you will burn up the gearbox.

Either get a trailer, or give the car to a transport service.

I'm agreeing with JFP in PA, your gearbox will be toast and ultimately will cost more to fix than a trailer or pro towing service. Best of luck!

+1 on what these guys said. There is probably something in the owner's manual that say you can only flat bed these cars.
