997-2 engine in 2006 Boxster
Wayne Dempey's "101 Projects for your Porsche Boxster" has an excellent Project 11 titled "Engine Swaps and Upgrades" including 2008 model year engines. As I look in Car-Part.com, I see where 2009 Boxster 2.9 engines have come down to the $8,000 to $9,000 range. I have located a 2006 Boxster with the IMS bearing issue. The thought of a Boxster without the IMS bearing is interesting. Is it feasible to put the 997-2 engine in a 2006 Boxster?
Best regards, Mrrogers |

Totally depends upon how much money and welding equipment you have. 2009+ engine's are all DFI, which operates at over 1K PSIG, the Boxster's fuel system is designed to work at 50 PSIG. The 2009+ engines run entirely different electronics than the 2006 Boxster, so a lot of wiring and electrical work will be required to mate the two. And when you are all done, you have a "one-off" Frankenstein car that has a ton of money tied up in it and will scare off buyers.
