Thanks, new to all this and thought I found them all... I should have expanded my search outside of the 996 forums.

Hello:
I just installed in on my '03 C4S. I have to admit, being my 1st IMS upgrade, I was extremely nervous and took my sweet a$$ time to make sure it came out well. I had a big scare while removing the bearing retaining clip. The very tip of the retaining ring pliers I was using broke and fell inside the engine!. Thankfully, I was able to save the day with a high-power earth magnet and got it out, whew!!! Lesson: Make sure you cover the space between the IMS and the engine block with masking tape or shop towels to avoid something from falling in there.

Anyways, I have close to 1000 miles on it and so far, so good. If you are doing the direct oil feed, make sure that the hole is no more than 4mm. I chose to make it around 2.5mm so that oil pressure is affected as little as possible. You can check this by going slow and checking the hole diameter with the chuck end of a drill bit of similar size (7/64 or 3/32 will do).

Good luck!
