2004 911 Turbo Cab reliability
A friend is going to sell his turbo to buy a new one and offered it to me first. He bought it new, less than 20K miles, Tiptronic, perfect condition. So the question is, how reliable are these cars in the long run? I would drive it a lot more than he did, but don't want to go broke doing upkeep. I can do some things, but I would guess the dealer or a good garage would be required at times. Torn between keeping my currant 914-6 or selling it and going for something newer.

Because the car carries the Mezger engine, it is pretty bullet proof.

I purchased a Turbo because of the Mezger and known stoutness of the model. No specific idea if there are any known soft top issues and outside of the Coolant hose potential issue on these motors... I went with it because of the amazing value for the dollar and reputed reliability of the model.
So coolant hoses (may or may not pop out as epoxy ages on the pressed in fittings) and maybe radiators at some point due to age/usual debris buildup if not cleaned much. Then just normal maintenance. |
