1999 C4 tranny noise what if not broken bearing seals?

Hi, I planned to do a full maintenance on my car during the winter. I will among other things change the IMS and the RMS and the oil separator and try to get rid of a few engine oïl leaks. I also want to check the tranny (manual) I did had a noise coming from the transmission area beginning at around 30 m/h and I was suspecting the famous sealed bearings but when I made the first check with the finger in the drain hole I did'nt found the grey paste (grease) left by defective pinion bearings. I found a little bit of black greasy deposit instead.
I called a specialized shop and I understand they made their best to answer me without seeing my tranny. The guy told me that it looked more like loose in the differential section of the tranny. They could try to fix that with adjustments but after many $$ it could still be noisy and I would'nt be happy. He recommended me to keep it like that. I'm sure he did'nt give me that answer to avoid working in my transmission. I read a lot or posts and articles about transmission bearings issues but found nothing about noise without the broken sealed bearings. The noise is not a living hell in my car but it's present and the transmission behaves perfectly well.
I have it off from the engine right now but I would be glad not to open it if not nece$$ary.
I would like to have opinions or another point of view.
Thank's in advance
The car has 100k miles and I have no history.

OK I have some developments. I tried to remove the nose cone but the best I could is to open it approximately 3/4 of an inch and that if I play with the biggest shift lever. Can someone tell me how to remove the nose cone completly please??? I must begin to pull it in neutral then I must shift to lift it further but never more than 3/4 of an inch Something looks like it's stiil linked to the lever. I found and read instructions for this removal that it is ready to be removed right after the bolts are out. It was for a C2.
Even if I did'nt succeed to remove the cone, I had enough space to see over the magnetic washer and there is no trace of Porsche's grey magic grease.
