The second generation Porsche 911/997 (Gen II) got several updates and improvements. This included a new more powerful engine thanks to direct-injection. The 3.8-liter Carrera S got 385 horsepower and 310 pound feet of torque. Also, the prior issues with the IMS bearing were eliminated altogether as these new motors did not have the bearing…similar to the GT3 style Mezger motors. New styling of the lights really helped finish off the already improved 997 looks. Is this the modern day version of the G50 Carrera? I think history will show these to be some of the most reliable and desirable 911s ever built.

This Porsche was built in September of 2008 and sold new by Hennessy Porsche on September 30th, 2008. This example had an MSRP of nearly $92k and was ordered with the following factory options:

The first two owners were co-workers and between both of them, they only put about 16k-miles on this 911 S before it was sold to the current owner in 2011. This owner purchased the car as a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) 911 from Circle Porsche of Long Beach, California. For the last 7-years, this owner has carefully enjoyed the car, never abused it, and serviced it regularly either with the dealer or top local Porsche specialists. Besides normal annual oil services, highlights of recent and significant services include:

Cabin air filter/oil service (4k-miles ago)
Fuel pump replaced
Spark plugs/fluid flush/belts/major service (@80k-miles)
Clutch kit and dual mass flywheel replaced (@60k-miles)

This Gen II S is in excellent condition, especially considering the miles. The paint looks very nice with minimal signs of use. Most of the paint is original and the car has not been abused or in an accident. The 19” wheels are in great shape with just a few light blemishes. The fronts are wrapped in Michelin tires with more than half life remaining. The rears are wearing Bridgestone tires with about 75% life remaining. The rears were recently replaced and the owner prefers the Bridgestones. He planned on replacing the fronts with the same tires once they wore out a bit more. The front brakes have more than half-life left. The rear brakes are just under half-life. We tried to photograph any exterior blemish we could find. The interior is equally as nice and shows just light signs of use. The leather seats are in great shape with hardly any wear. The door panels, dash, carpet, and headliner are all in great shape as well. There are some minor wear on the center console plastic. All the gauges, lights, radio, and a/c all work properly.

This Carrera S drives fantastic. It has gobs of low-end torque and feels just as fresh as when it was new. It starts easily with no smoke and idles smoothly. The throttle response is excellent with no hesitation. The gearbox shifts smoothly with no grinding or slipping of the clutch. The brakes have great initial bite with no fading. This 997.2 feels extremely tight and is ready for any kind of use.

California registration is current and paid through January 2018.

This Carrera S comes with an extra key, owner’s manuals, most service records, and trunk tool/tire repair kit.
