With a 911 SC incoming and limited garage space living in the city, it’s time for my 944 to move on. I’ve owned this car for over 2 years and it’s always been an absolute blast to drive as well as extremely reliable and trouble-free. Low mileage clean 944s are becoming tougher to find and this one fits the bill nicely with just under 62k true miles. Car starts every time, no hesitation, no smoke, and no valve tick. This car is all original inside and out, completely unmolested and has a clean Carfax with no accident history. The paint is good shape all around and with some small chips here and there. I’ve tried to capture all of them in the photos. There is one scrape on the bottom of the front spoiler that occurred before my ownership.

The interior looks good for its age with one small tear in the driver seat as photographed. As is so common with these cars, there are some cracks in dash but I recently installed a Coverlay dash cover and it blends nicely. The shift boot and knob have some discoloration and fading and there is one thread on the steering wheel with some fade and natural wear around the rest of it. The back seats and carpet throughout are very clean and all mats are included along with the original sunroof storage bag. I recently had the AC converted to R134 and charged and it works like a charm. Blows ice cold, and quickly at that.

There are two issues that could stand to be addressed if you decide to do so, but don’t affect the drivability of the car. First, according to my mechanic, a previous owner installed a new passenger side door handle but never properly configured the lock cylinder so the key does not work in it. I was told it’s an hour worth of labor and an easy fix. Never bothered me much, just pull the old lean and unlock. Secondly, the car did not have a stereo installed when I bought it and I’ve never tried to install one. I do have a later Blaupunkt unit for it that I will include.

Highlights of recent service include:
Rear window resealed, all drainage channels cleaned
Oil pressure relief valve serviced (needed on these cars)
Fresh rotors and pads
New fuel pump, hose, sender, gasket
Oil change
New tires with under 2000 miles on them fitted to genuine Fuchs 7/8x15s with machinedd lips

Overall, this is a clean, reliable, great early example that I would not hesitate to drive cross country. It’s no concourse car but it’s a true pleasure to drive.
