When the Porsche GT3 was launched as a new model in the late 90’s, it was an overwhelming success. All GT3s have since become some of the most sought after modern collectibles Porsche ever offered. The famous Mezger engines were the foundation of all the 996 and 997 GT3s. This motor is known for being one of the best engines ever built. It is considered incredibly reliable and able to handle gobs of power. The RS 4.0 was the last of these engines. The new 991s have gone away from this engine design. As a result, early examples of the new engine were plagued with rebuilds and recalls.

The 2nd Generation GT3’s have seen a bump in value as buyers for the 911’s have migrated back to the 997.2 (commonly referred to as Gen 2) models. With their displacement growing from 3.6 to 3.8 liters, these race-ready streetcars now have naturally aspirated 435hp and 317 lb. ft. torque.

This GT3 was built in December of 2009. It was special ordered by the current owner and sold new by Newport Beach Porsche on January 25th, 2010. This example was well optioned and had an MSRP of over $141,000.

The owner and his wife are long time active local Orange Coast PCA members. When they aren’t off traveling the world, they are usually attending our local PCA gatherings. They have several special Porsches in their collection and it certainly pains them to sell this one. However, they not only don’t have enough space to store the car, but they aren’t around enough to enjoy it.

These owners were vigilant with their service regiment. The majority was performed at Newport Beach Porsche. The only exception was when they had GMG racing swap out the factory ceramic brakes and pads for steel ones with performance pads. The original ceramic rotors are in near perfect condition and only have 10k-miles on them. The brake pads are equally as fresh with only 4k-miles on them (swapped out under warranty due to squeaking noise the owner heard). The ceramic rotors and pads are available for an additional fee.

Highlights of services performed and upgrades include:

We just had our local Porsche specialist run the DME (Digital Motor Electronics) to look for any over revs or fault codes.* This GT3 has been absolutely pampered.* There were only 12 level 1 cycles and 0 level 2-6 cycles.* (see pic).*

This GT3 is in immaculate condition. It has never been raced or tracked. It was taken to one local PCA autocross/car control clinic. Most of the miles were from driving on the freeway to their vacation property in Palm Springs, California. The exterior looks immaculate with minimal signs of use. A gauge was used to verify that the paint is all original except for the right rear quarter panel. Visually, there is no difference. The glass is all original and looks equally as nice. The wheels have no curb rash and are wearing Michelins with well over 75% life remaining. The brakes are near new. The front shows no signs of road wear. There is a slight blemish on the lower front plastic splitter (see pic).

The interior is equally as nice and shows very light signs of use. The sport seats have no tears or rips. There is just some slight wear on the driver exit bolster. The Alcantera steering wheel cover is near perfect. The dash, headliner, carpet, and door panels all look new. There is some light wear on the driver side plastic threshold cover. All the gauges and functions operate properly including cold blowing A/C.

This GT3 performs flawlessly. It is clear that it was lightly used and serviced regularly. It accelerates, turns, and stops like new. It would make a great addition to anyone looking for a collector grade example to show or better yet, use for fun/spirited driving as it was intended.

California registration and smog is current and paid through January of 2018.

This GT3 comes with all the owner’s manuals, center-lock tool, Porsche flat repair system, air compressor, tool kit, original window sticker, all service records, battery tender, and an extra key.
