No More Audi R8's to be produced after this generation
At the Geneva Motor Show, Peter Mertens, Audi's R&D chief, said there are no plans to replace the R8 after this generation. Although there is a twin-turbo V6 being developed to fit the R8 chassis, this generation will be replaced with something that is electrified. We can expect to see the R8 stick around for a bit, but the development budget is more focused on batteries, motors and associated EV technologies. What are your thoughts?

Long live R8
As an owner of an R8 V10 6 spd. it's not bad to retire at the peak of one's career! Gasoline engines will be a thing of the past eventually...we may not see it in our lifetime but it's going to happen!

I bet that Twin turbo V6 will be a rocket though, and very reliable. the Audi 2.7TT engine can be built amazingly well and make 500hp. would be super cool to see what they come up with!

Sad to see the R8 go away, but looking forward to whatever it is that Audi will roll out in its place. It would be super-cool if Audi did a full-electric as their next performance showcase...

I'm glad I picked up a V10 Plus (Gen 2) before they phase them out. Its a fantastic car.
