Almost 40 years ago I was recovering from a very bad cold but decided that I was well enough to make a eight hour drive, about six hours into it on a elevated cloverleaf on the highway at about 55 mph I had some sort of sudden attack.
I fought to keep one hand on the wheel as the other arm could not be lifted and my foot on the gas seemed to be from somebody else. My speed was irregular on wet pavement to say the least.
Oh, and I sank down in the seat like an elephant was on my chest.
It came and went in a matter of moments, and I never figured out what it was. I continued driving like it never happened. However, I was very close to losing it at a very inopportune moment. I don't recall being on any medication, just under stress.
My point is that unless you had a heart attack while behind the wheel of a car or some other sudden episode like I had, one cannot sit in judgment about what happened with the pressure on the gas pedal.
I'm just glad the kids were not in the car.
