e30 idle problem - the one cent fix
Still driving my '87 325is with a penny in the ICV hose. The switch seems to work OK - continuity when closed on one terminal than 'open, than continuity when wide open on the other terminal.
Voltage drop from the (t.p.) switch to the valve seems to be the problem - from 4 -5 volts to less than one volt at the valve. I have switched out the smaller of the two computers above the glove box with no change - I have another of the larger computers to try out soon. The penny in the hose works well though - idle is rough when cold but smooths out. Idle adjustment by the set screw maintains well when warm but this is not right. Because voltage drop is on all three wires feeding the ICV perhaps a different computer will do the trick. I truly hate working under the dash but I want my penny back. tg |
