crank shaft bolt

I have a 1993 BMW 325I. I am trying to get the crank shaft bolt off the front of the motor. I read that it is on at around 300 ft lbs. i am applying well over that and it is not coming off. can anyone tell me if perhaps this bolt is reverse threaded?

Ok,

The crankshaft is glued on by orange loc-tite. It is standard threaded, but you are just going to have to use more force to get it loose. It will bust loose with enough leverage.

Thanks your right it finally came off. I thought I was going to break the engine stand from all the weight I was putting on it. Man those things are on tight.

They are tight for good reason. You sertianly wouldnt want it coming loose while the engine is running. Glad to be of help.
