There is a bracket that fits on the front of the car to hold the plate. It should screw onto the front of the bumper.

If its an e36 body, and the center mld is straight a newone is needed along with a bracket. if an e30 just the metal braket is needed that screws through the mld.

On the front of my bumber there are two holes where the plate would go, but how do I fasten the other side of the bolt? There are two other round things (caps maybe) on the bumper that I could pry off I think? What are they??

I dont know what an E36 body is...sorry...

What do you mean bracket???

I think that a front plate "takes away" from the stylish look of the front of
the older bmw's. I'm not a big fan of the newer model styles 'is that a honda or a bmw'? At least most of the 3 series that I have seen. Here in connecticut, the law says two plates on the car. So I stacked them both on the rear of the car. Anyway, on my car, the mounting holes on the plate don't match the car. I have more important things to do than worry about modifying a plate bracket.
