aux fan help

New to bmw's and could use a little help. How hard is the aux fan in front of the radiator to change and what is involed to do it.

auto or manual tranny? Why do you needf to change out the fan? This fan is usually only used when the A/C is on.

manual trans the a/c does not work and I am going to get it fixed and the a/c shop said the fan has to work and it is froze.

I believe you will need to remove the three front grille pieces and the hood. Then you simply unbolt it from the front of the condenser.

Are the fan bearings shot?

Yes I thiks so I have not got it out to see. I have a parts car to get one out of.

Before you remove it, you might want to try spraying some WD-40 in there and apply 12V to the fan. See if that gets it spinning.
