Mid-Range door speakers buzzing

First off, let me admit that I am far from a stereo expert.
I have a 98 323is with the Harmon Kardon premium sound. The mid-range 4" door speakers sound like they're blown. Are there replacements available without going to the dealer?

What makes you think they are blown?

They have a buzz/distortion quality to the sound that they didn't have before at all volume levels. Could it be something else?

basically classic rock, medium volume. No base boom or window rattle.

Hmm, it is possible they are blown, i would remove them and have them tested. There are many 4 inch speakers out there on the market that youi can use. I would reccomend either MB Quart or JBL. I've always had good results with both speakers.

Do you have any idea where I could have them tested? and do I need special speakers (mid-range specific) to replace them?

Steve, I beleive they are specific, hit your local stero shop, tell them what you got and wher they go I'm sure they'll match you up pretty good, and I dont think they are that expensive. Oh and by the way are you a T-Wolves fan? If so, well you see I'm here in L.A.
and that was quite a beating you guys took last night, uh?
Maybe you guys will do better next year.
