How to fix auto-up feature of driver window?

I didn't drive my car for a whole 3 weeks because I couldn't find time to go home from college (stupid midterms). My parents don't know how to drive stick, and it's bad to let the car warm up by idling (as per the owners manual). Thus, the car was not driven or even started the past 3 weeks. Unfortunately, my batter died and I had to get a new one (needed replacement anyways down the line).

Now, my one click up feature on the driver's side window doesnt work! I can one touch it down, but it just wont go up with one touch! How did changing the battery cause this to happen? I dont understand.

Its not imperative that I fix it, but if someone knows of a cheap solution to this problem, it'd be great. Its such a nice feature to close the window with just one push. THanks

There's something about reinitializing the windows after the power's been cut. Here's excerpt from Bentley Guide:

1. Close door and turn ignition key on. Fully open front window.
2. Fully close front window.
3. Hold window button in up position for at least 5 seconds after window is closed.
4. Repeat for other window.
5. The windows should now be initialized and the anti-pinch and one-touch up/down functions should be enabled.

Enjoy!

Ya know, I've had that problem since I got my car (same driver side too), & I tried that reinitializing thing and it didn't do didley. I was kinda guessing I'd need to by a new switch, but couldn't figure out the easiest way to get the old one out. The part isn't outrageously priced, but if that reinetializing thing works, it'll save ya enough cash for a couple cases of beer.

Steve, I did your procedure this weekend while I was driving and much to my surprise, it worked! Actually, I was too lazy and didn't do it over 5 seconds. I just held it for like 4 seconds. haha, anyways, thanks for your help!

Lucky you. I looks like I gotta invest the 30 beans for a new switch. Go figure.
