Ignition Coils

I have an 1993 e36 318is (M42) - it starts rough then once you clear it, it runs fine. I think it could be a faulty coil, however the coil to plug connection does not seem to be in any logical order. (this model has no distributor just four coils). Does any one know how the coils are ordered and what their corressponding plug should be - a long shot i know. Cheers.

Hmm, i dont think this is ignition from what you describe. I would be more inclined to think it's fuel related. When it's rough, do you have to floor it, and then it runs good?

No, not exactly, just hold it at about 1,500 rpm and it will clear, its as if its only running on three to start with...
