Central Locking- Keyless Entry Install,, HELP
Hey guys, I am sorry to admit it but i purchased a keyless entry system and now I can not figure out how to install it. The problem lies in activating the door locks. I do not have to factory "security connector" atleast I don't think I do, I have an early 92 (9/91) E36. I have to find the lock and unlock triggers, I have the door pannel off and have been testing wires and trying to get it to activate but all I am doing is blowing fuses. Anyone who has done this may be able to point me in the right direction as to wich wires to tap into, Thanks for any help!

As I speak-er'-write.., I'm having a new alarm put into my 94' 318IC.. I'm having it done professionally, as I've gone thru the same this with my previous. They've had by baby over the weekend because even THEY can't get the car to UN-lock! The ONLY place I would attempt a DIY with would be here..
http://www.autoloc.com/ They make BMW specific alarms guaranteed to plug & play, I've never gotten an alarm from them, but I have gotten 1-touch switches from them .. and they're great! I'll pester the tech about this when I pick up my car and relay any info I get to you..

Not sure what you mean by 'security connector", but I believe all e36 were wired for alarm system. look in your trunk, there should be a sticker stating it's prewired for alarm and cd changer.
As far as where the connector is...the OEM alarm harness is behind the glove box. You have to take out the glove box. Hope this helps Rick

The Code Alarm Gen 2 works great!.. Was standoffish at first, but a friend at the shop told me I wouldn't be dissapointed with it.. I'm not-- It double locks and everything! even installed a Prox sensor that works when I have my top down (convertible top, that is
![]() ![]() But I do have one question.. THey told me that they coudn't hook up the horn to the alarm, because "the horn doesn't work unless the key is in the ignition" Is this true -- then how do OEM alarms utilize the horn?? ![]()

For anything electrical on any vehicle try looking in www.the12volt.com. They have everything you need to know to do alarm/stereo installs and tells you the color and location of the wires. Plus lots more, has worked for me.

hey wah325i as far as your door lock problem 92 bmw's were not pre wired for alarms 93 and uo only! your door locks are reverse polarity in the drivers kick panel! you have to find the wires that lock and unlock, cut them and add relays. If you are not familiar with wiring relays let me know and i will write you a diagram!
and as far as you wazzup7,the horn does work with the key on.but only if you try to hook up the horn from the steering column.you can hook up the horn from under the hood on the driver side harness towards the headlights with a relay and flasher, let me if you also need help.(I own a car stereo and security shop!!!!)Rohan from new york |

My car is a 92 and it has the stickers in the trunk which say it is prewired for the alarm. But i have a later model 92 (build date 7/92).
