How long do your brakes last?

Just getting some brackets of what's normal. How long have your brake pads/rotors lasted, typically?

I have an 86es, and I've had it for 49K of it's 101K and I've never changed pads. Strictly street, but spirited driving... I've had that damn brake lining light on for a year, I swear (assuming just a broken wire), and have been waiting for the pads to go for the obligitory replace/upgrade.

I've never been good at gauging pad life by how much is showing.

The brake linings light usually indicates that you have a certian amount of lifeleft in the rotors. Im thinking that there is a short somewhere in your system.

I agree... it is just surprising to me that, regardless of the light, I've had pads for ~50K, and I can not verify how long they were on before I bought it.

They usually reccommend you repalce the brake wear indicators at the same time you you replace pads. it's possbile that the indicators were not replaced

Hey;

I got over 100k on the OEM set.
They'll last quit a while "depending" on how hard you are on them.

At a CCA Drivers school, you'll burn up a set in a weekend.

I was too cheap to replace my sensors.
I just pull a wheel and check every once in a while.

Later,
Bill

Zoomy, are you using any vented rotors?

Hey;

My front disks are vented.
(I think they all are)

They are also Ducted.
Well at least a duct directing air toward them.

Rears are solid.

Later,
Bill
