Weird cold start last night...
Last Firday, early in the morning, I rubbed leatherique into the seats, and backed the car out of the garage into the sun, so the oil would soak in better. After a couple of hours, I put it back in the garage- where it sat for 2 days. Last night (SUN), I went to start the car and it ran really rough, like it was on 3 cylinders. After a few minutes, all was normal.
It reminded me of old posts about starting your car for a very short while, not allowing it to warm up, then later when it was started it would run sluggish. I read a tech article in Roundel about it too. Some people call it the "carwash effect." Although I didn't was the car, it was started and stopped just as in the carwash scenario. This morning (MON) I started it up, and all was well again. Weird. -------------------- David S '95 325is, arctic gray |

Hum, I've had this problem occassionally as well. I think it has something to do with vapor lock as it only dfoes it when my car is hot.

That's the 180 of my problem- it happened because- supposedly- I ran the car not long enough to warm up, and then restarted it later on. That's what is coined - I thought - "the car wash effect".
This happens commonly to people who take the garage queen out the garage for a wash, and then bring right back in. At first it was believed that water was getting to the ECU, but later on it was discounted because it seemed to happen when the car was not washed, but merely worked on. I think that's what happened to me. Just wanted to know if anyone ever had that happen too. Thanks! David |
